Gdańsk Biennial of Art 2020 is the sixth edition of the artistic event presenting the works of several dozens of professional artists living and working in the Pomeranian voivodeship, which is the necessary condition of participation. The competition and exhibition are aimed at reviving and integrating the local artistic community as well as rendering an interesting offer for both the inhabitants and tourists visiting Gdańsk.
The organizers of the Biennial aim at grasping the latest trends and directions in visual arts represented by the local artists. The event is also a response to the need of the Pomeranian artists for the cyclical and broad display of their most recent works.
The post-competition display will provide the opportunity to present a broad spectrum of techniques employed by different generations of artists.
The artists are invited to enter one work in a technique of their choice, optionally a diptych or a triptych, which was created between 2018 and 2020.
The entrances should be delivered in a wrtitten form and sent to the Organiser’s address: Gdańska Galeria Miejska ul. Szeroka 34/35-37 80-835 Gdańsk, or via e-mail at: biennale2020@ggm.gda.pl by October 7th, 2020.
The competition entry and the photography of the work on a disc should include the data necessary to identify the author of the work and the work (name, surname, address, telephone number, e-mail address, the title of the work, technique, dimensions, date of completion, biography of the artist up to 4000 characters).
Apart from the competition entry, the participant should also fill in and deliver a card of participation (see the attached form).
December 11th 2020, 7: p.m. – the exhibition of the works by the finalists opens at Gdańsk City Gallery 2, Powroźnicza Street 13/15. The deadline for the competition entrances is September 30th, 2020.
February 21st 2021, 5 p.m. – during the final day of the display the artists will be awarded with the Grand Prix and the Audience Award.
Award for the winner of the 6th Biennial:
The jury will select the winner among the finalists of the 4th Biennial. There is a financial award for the winner offered by the organizer of the Biennial – the Gdańsk City Gallery.
Audience Award:
While visiting the post-competition display, the viewers are invited to vote and single out one artist for the Audience Award.
