Blood & Sugar: Works 2000‒2021
is the largest exhibition to date of works by Bogna Burska. It features both her most recent pieces, on display for the first time, and works typical of different periods in her career. Both the exhibition and the accompanying book are not typical retrospectives, i.e a chronological review of past works. Instead, they offer a narration highlighting the migrations, returns and transformations in the forms and topics taken up by Burska. The texts featured in the book allow the reader to see her art from various points of view – including from the perspectives of scholars of theater, the visual arts and film.

Bogna Burska is a versatile artist, who carefully selects forms well-suited to a realizing a specific, carefully developed concept. This has resulted in her producing a diverse array of works in which she does not shy away from risk and leaves herself open to the possibility of failure. The artist fights against the intellectual laziness of curators, who are too accustomed to artists who “serially” reproduce similar works using a clearly defined creative method.
