NARRACJE is a festival of contemporary art presented in Gda\u0144sk\u2019s public space. The artworks navigate viewers around this urban adventure: using various tools, they remain closely connected with the space. They provoke, intervene, and remove subsequent layers of the everyday to reveal hidden meanings.<\/p>\n

The 12th edition of NARRACJE takes you on a journey to the year 2080, when a substantial part of Gda\u0144sk will be submerged under the Baltic Sea. However, in the fantastical concept devised by curators Karina Kottov\u00e1 and Piotr Sikora, this will not bring about an environmental disaster predicted in bleak scenarios. What they offer instead is rational optimism: the curators intend to fill the urban space of Wrzeszcz with projects based on a speculation that synthesizes the work of artists, scientists, environmentalists and urban activists.

\u201cWhile we are aware of the gravity of our situation, we do not believe in gloomy scenarios of the Anthropocene. We want to build an event whose narrative stretches far into the future, yet offers a bright image of what\u2019s to come instead of apocalyptic visions, and, by way of a remedy, initiates a collaboration between residents, artists and activists\u201d, say Kottov\u00e1 and Sikora.
