On 17 and 18 November, the seaside resort of Brze\u017ano will see works of 21 artists from Poland and other countries. Anna Czaban has invited Maurycy Gomulicki, Ewa Rudnicka, Ursula Mayer, Wojtek B\u0105kowski, Norbert Delman, Lola Gonzales, Katarzyna Krakowiak and many others. Using various media (performance, installation, sound art), the artists will explore the architecture, the history, and the spatiality of Brze\u017ano, as well as the communal processes and social interactions. Traditionally, most works will be site-specific. There will of course be tours of the installations with the curator and guides, as well as educational projects for kids. In the evening, we will open our festival club located in the former Balladyna club at Hallera 232. Come and see the out-of-season Brze\u017ano with the City Culture Institute and Gdansk City Gallery.<\/p>

\u2018The main objective of the story of Brze\u017ano is to evoke both the truth and the legends referring to the former resort. We are going to recreate the atmosphere of the spa without nostalgia, theatrical mystifications, and remembering the heydays of the former resort with its Dom Zdrojowy where captains and admirals threw parties. We return to the legend to see what\u2019s left of the memories of the neighbourhood\u2019s past, and to confront it with the reality and the needs of the citizens of Gdansk<\/i>,\u2019 says NARRACJE <\/i>curator, Anna Czaban.<\/p>

Anna Czaban<\/strong> is a curator, a facilitator, and a graduate of cultural studies at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Pozna\u0144 and curatorial studies at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow. From 2009 to 2015, she worked as the curator for Galeria Miejska Arsena\u0142 in Poznan, where she was responsible for artistic and social projects (e.g. Mi\u0142o\u015b\u0107 do tego, co naturalne<\/i>, Por\u0119czne<\/i>, W stron\u0119 instytucji krytycznej<\/i> exhibitions and the Lokalsi<\/i> project). In 2014, she edited Zaw\u00f3d: Kurator<\/i> \u2013 a comprehensive volume on the work of a curator in Poland. She is cooperating with the Inna przestrze\u0144 <\/i>foundation(One Caucasus<\/i>, Gruzja and Transkaukazja<\/i>, Warszawa). Since 2015, she has been curating social projects at the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art in Warsaw (Archipelag Jazd\u00f3w<\/i>, Ogr\u00f3d Miejski Jazd\u00f3w<\/i>).<\/p>

Since 2009, NARRACJE<\/i> <\/strong>has been exploring the stories of our city. Each autumn, artist explore Gdansk neighbourhoods, changing the contexts of the well known locations with their artistic interventions. So far, NARRACJE <\/i>has been curated by: Bettina Peltz (2009\u20142011), Steven Matijcio (2012), Rob Garrett (2013), Anna Witkowska and Adam Witkowski (2014), Anna Smolak (2015), and Stach Szab\u0142owski (2016). The festival was organised in the Old and Main Town, as well as in the former shipyard, Dolne Miasto, D\u0142ugie Ogrody, Wrzeszcz, Nowy Port, and Biskupia G\u00f3rka. The curator for the 9th<\/sup> edition (17\/18 Nov; Gda\u0144sk Brze\u017ano) is Anna Czaban.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
