Gdansk Art Biennale is a review of art in the form of an open competition addressed to artists connected with the city. As a part of the event, there is an open submission of entries, and the Board of Experts selects the most interesting works presented during the competition exhibition. The jury comprises eminent curators, critics and heads of top exhibition institutions. The event is curated by Gra\u017cyna Tomaszewska-Sobko.<\/p>

The first edition of Gdansk Art Biennale, which took place in 2010, was a national event. It was a thematic exhibition entitled To\u017csamo\u015b\u0107 Miejsca [Identity of the Place]. The jury of the first stage of the competition included Iwona Bigos, Adrianna Majdzi\u0144ska, Marek Model, Stanis\u0142aw Szwechowicz, Gra\u017cyna Tomaszewska-Sobko, Czes\u0142aw Tumielewicz, and Ma\u0142gorzata \u017berwe. The jury of the second stage: Rafa\u0142 Jakubowicz, Pawe\u0142 Jarodzki, and Jaros\u0142aw Lubiak unanimously selected GAB\u2019s laureate \u2013 Dorota Nieznalska\u2019s sculpture Kr\u00f3lowa Polski [Queen of Poland]. A solo exhibition of the winner, entitled Miasto Zdarzenia Rekonstrukcje [City Events Reconstructions] was held at Gdansk City Gallery 2 from 26.08.2011 until 30.09.2011.<\/p>

The second edition of GAB has permanently narrowed its reach to Pomeranian Voivodship.<\/p>

The jury of the first stage was composed of Jaros\u0142aw Denisiuk, Janusz Janowski, Piotr J\u00f3zefowicz, and Edyta Wolska. The jury of the second stage: Dorota Monkiewicz, Karol Sienkiewicz, and Agata Zbylut, unanimously selected Elvin Flamingo\u2019s work Dwaj ludzie z napisem Sopot [Two People and the Sopot Sign]. The winner\u2019s exhibition entitled Symbiotyczno\u015b\u0107 tworzenia [Symbiosity of Creation] was held at Gdansk City Gallery 1 between 26.09.2014 and 02.11.2014.<\/p>

The third edition of GAB maintained the restriction of its reach to Pomeranian Voivodship.<\/p>

The jury of the first stage was composed of Iwona Bigos, Jaros\u0142aw Denisiuk, Janusz Janowski, Piotr J\u00f3zefowicz, and Ma\u0142gorzata Zwolicka-Taraszkiewicz. The jury of the second stage: Piotr Krajewski, Karolina Plinta, and Andrzej Wasilewski selected Zuzanna Goli\u0144ska\u2019s painting installation Ch\u00f3rzy\u015bci [Choir Members]. The winner\u2019s exhibition entitled Common Ground was held at Gdansk City Gallery 1 between 26.08.2016 and 23.09.2016.<\/p>

The fourth edition of GAB maintained the restriction of its reach to Pomeranian Voivodship. The Board of Experts of the first stage was composed of Karina Dzieweczy\u0144ska, Piotr J\u00f3zefowicz, Agata Nowosielska, Piotr Stasiowski, and Edyta Wolska. The jury of the second stage: Krzysztof Polkowski, S\u0142awomir Marzec, and Monika Weychert-Waluszko selected Martyna Jastrz\u0119bska\u2019s installation Bajki Starego Kontynentu vol 1 [Fairy Tales of the Old Continent Vol. 1].<\/p>

The fifth edition of GAB maintained the restriction of its reach to Pomeranian Voivodship. The Board of Experts of the first stage was composed of Joanna Dudek, Marta Gendera, Ewa \u0141\u0105czy\u0144ska-Widz, and Katarzyna J\u00f3zefowicz.
