<\/p>

Deep Water<\/em><\/strong> is an artistic-educational project devised for Academy of Fine Arts students and young artists who are currently entering the so-called artistic milieu. The participants will work together to create an exhibition. An open studio will be accompanied by meetings, workshops and lectures. These events will focus on questions of interest to the project participants, such as operating in the artistic circles, artist fees, collaboration with galleries, production of works and exhibitions, promoting one\u2019s own work, as well as the pursuit of preserving one\u2019s individuality within the machinery of cultural production.

<\/p>

Between 10th March and 7th April, GGM1 in ul. Piwna will become an open studio, a venue for meetings and exchanging experiences. Feel cordially invited to visit a constantly changing exhibition-in-process during the gallery\u2019s regular opening hours.

15th March, Wednesday<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 workshop with Gregor R\u00f3\u017ca\u0144ski: Make Anything Something Again<\/em>
Let\u2019s talk about art under the pressure of the market and politics, about the crisis of thinking about the future, about the artists\u2019 suspension between techno-enthusiasm and techno-pessimism as well as other latest global problems and challenges.<\/em><\/p>

Gregor R\u00f3\u017ca\u0144ski (b. 1988)<\/strong>
Multimedia artist. His activities explore contemporary phenomena related to life and art in a hybrid and precarious reality through such forms as installations, conceptual projects, the Internet, video and found objects. R\u00f3\u017ca\u0144ski studies visual arts and sculpture at Kunsthochschule Weissensee in Berlin. His works have been presented at individual exhibitions at the Centre for Contemporary Art in Warsaw (2015), Zona Current Art Gallery in Szczecin (2015), Wroc\u0142aw Contemporary Museum (2012), O’Artoteca Project Space in Milan (2010) and Para_Site Gallery in Graz (2009), among other venues, as well as at group exhibitions: \u201cMoney to Burn\u201d at Zach\u0119ta National Gallery of Art in Warsaw (2016), \u201cAll the Time at Work\u201d at BWA Tarn\u00f3w (2016), \u201cPrivate Settings. Art after the Internet\u201d at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw (2014), „Is It Art Or Is It Just” at BWA Zielona G\u00f3ra (2014) and Het Plafond in Rotterdamie (2013), \u201cThat Something on the Horizon \u2013 Architecture of the 21st Century\u201d at the National Library in Warsaw (2011), \u201cMaterial Conversion\u201d at Grimmuseum in Berlin (2011), \u201cAgency for Unrealized Projects\u201d during Art Basel 2011, Vienna Biennale in Vienna (2010) and \u201cSubversive Messe\u201d within the European Capital of Culture in Linz (2009), among other shows.

21st March, Tuesday<\/strong> \u2013 meeting with Julita W\u00f3jcik: Artist\u2019s ABC \u2013 Contracts<\/em>
What to pay attention to when signing contracts offered to artists by institutions and organisations that carry out artistic projects.<\/p>

Julita W\u00f3jcik (b. 1971)<\/strong>
Lives and works in Gda\u0144sk. Graduate of the Faculty of Sculpture of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gda\u0144sk, where she received a diploma from the studio of Prof. Franciszek Dusze\u0144ko. Honoured with the \u201cPassport\u201d Award of Polityka weekly (2012) and Royal Scottish Academy Award (2013). Holder of multiple scholarships of the Minister of Culture (1995\/6, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007) and the Foundation for Culture (2001), City of Gda\u0144sk (2002), Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship (2003). Artist in residence of Art in General in New York (2006) and Visegrad Fund (2010), among other residencies. Her works have been presented at numerous exhibitions in Poland and abroad.

23rd March, Thursday<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 meeting with Agnieszka Rayzacher (lokal_30): Best Wishes<\/em><\/p>

Agnieszka Rayzacher<\/strong>
Art curator and critic. Runs lokal_30 gallery in Warsaw since 2005. For several years Rayzacher has also pursued publishing activity as an editor and co-editor of books devoted to Natalia LL, Ewa Zarzycka, Zuzanna Janin, Ewa Juszkiewicz, among other artists.

<\/p>

5th April \u2013 7th April<\/strong> \u2013 Students of the Studio of Spatial Activities \/ Prof. Miros\u0142aw Ba\u0142ka and Zuza Goli\u0144ska (MA).<\/p>

The participants of Deep Water will engage in a mutual exchange of gathered experience in the social and artistic field. They will establish an open dialogue, which will allow them to recognise the potential of group work and conversation with peers, without an academic hierarchy. During the three days of meetings, they will jointly choose a form of activity that will be presented during the project finissage on 7th April at GGM1.

<\/p>

Studio of Spatial Activities<\/strong>
The Studio was created at the Faculty of Multimedia Communication at the Academy of Fine Arts in Pozna\u0144 as a result of the transformation of the Studio of Sculpture Transplantation of the Faculty of Artistic Education, which was formed from the Studio of Open Sculpture, established by Miros\u0142aw Ba\u0142ka in 2003. It has operated since 2011 at the Faculty of Media Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. The task of the Studio of Spatial Activities is to attempt to recognise and creatively shape the spaces in which we move and act. Its activities go beyond the Academy and focus on social and political problems. Students explore their cultural sensitivity, while looking for their own artistic\u00a0identity. By defining their places and\u00a0exchanging views with\u00a0representatives\u00a0of other places, students delineate their own spheres of communication.

<\/p>

Prof. Miros\u0142aw Ba\u0142ka (b. 1958)<\/strong>
Received a diploma from the studio of Prof. Jan Kucz at the Faculty of Sculpture of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 1985. Ba\u0142ka works with sculpture, drawing and video in space. Participant in major exhibitions such as Documenta in Kassel (1992), Venice Biennial (1990, 1993, 2003, 2005, 2013),The Carnegie Intl. in Pittsburgh (1995), Sao Paulo Biennial (1998), Biennale of Sydney (1992, 2006), Santa Fe Biennial (2006). In 2009, the artist created the project \u201cHow It Is\u201d at the Turbine Hall, Tate Modern in London. Author of the monument to the victims of the \u201cEstonia\u201d ferry disaster in Stockholm. His works belong to the collections of major museums in Poland and worldwide. Runs the Studio of Spatial Activities at the Faculty of Media Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Head of the Media Art Department. Member of Akademie Der Kunste in Berlin.

<\/p>

Assistant Professor Zuza Goli\u0144ska (b. 1990)<\/strong>
Graduate of the Studio of Painting Space of Leon Tarasewicz and Pawe\u0142 Susid at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (2013). In 2015, received her MFA diploma from the Studio of Spatial Activities of Miros\u0142aw Ba\u0142ka. Her theoretical dissertation was supervised by Anda Rottenberg. Her installation titled \u201cRun-Up\u201d was presented at the \u201cDom S\u0142owa Polskiego\u201d Printing House and at Heiligenkreuzerhof in Vienna and N\u00e1rodn\u00ed galerie in Prague. In 2014, shortlisted for the Hestia Artistic Journey Award and awarded the first prize of the Gda\u0144sk Biennial of Art. Participant in many group shows, such as the Polish-Swedish project \u201cS-NOW\u201d during the inauguration of the European Capital of Culture in Ume\u00e5 as well as the four-week cycle of exhibitions \u201cNo Yawning\u201d \u200b#1 #2 #3 at the Nowy Teatr in Warsaw. Holder of a scholarship awarded for achievements by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (2014). In 2015, nominated to the European award for young artists StartPoint Prize. In 2016, holder of a scholarship of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. Lives and works<\/p>
